Who We Are:
Providence
Church was formed in Gloucester, Virginia about 160
years ago. Our mission is to build the body of Christ through prayer, relationships and faithfulness. We aim to provide room for growth and opportunity for service so that we can touch our community with Christ's love. Our entire staff is committed to serve the Lord and be a blessing to you. God has tremendously blessed this church with His presence, people, and possibilities.
We are a family oriented church with an emphasis on children, youth, median adult, and senior adult ministries. Outreach and community involvement are also goals of the Providence family.
Children are an important part of our church. We want to partner with families to help lay a strong foundation for a lifetime of faith. Our Weekday Learning Center (WDLC) is a tuition based pre-school ministry available for children ages 2 through Pre-K, Monday through Friday during the school year. We also have children's church, kids on mission (Royal Ambassadors- RA's - Girls in Action - GA's - Mission Friends - Acteens), children's choir, and the AWANA program. Vacation Bible School and Sports Camp are both held each summer.
Our Youth Ministry exists for the purpose of equipping students in the Word and preparing them to be soul winners for God. Throughout the year our youth take mission trips, have ongoing Bible studies, fellowships, lock-ins, Disciple Now, and a lot of fun times!
Sunday School provides a place for everyone to learn about Jesus. We work to make Sunday School exciting, unique, and fun.
Discipleship Training is offered for preschoolers through adults. Various seminars, in depth Bible studies, men's and women's groups, and different encounter groups are part of the ministries of Providence.
We have a dedicated group of Senior Adults, whose ministry opportunities consist of visiting the elderly, Bible studies, fellowship and fun trips!
We have an active WMU (Women's Missionary Union) here at Providence. The focus of the WMU is to lead the church and members in praying for, giving to, learning about, and doing missions.
We also have a Bus Ministry to provide transportation for church activities and church attendance.
